Is Vons still in business?

By the 1970's, Vons was considered the top grocery store in Southern California. Today, Vons operates under Albertsons Companies with its headquarters in Fullerton, California.

Who owns Vons?

Albertsons company owns Vons. Safeway Inc. previously owned it before Albertsons acquired it. There are 197 different Vons stores locations: 188 in California and 9 in Nevada. There are six stores in Las Vegas and three in Henderson in Nevada. Some of the locations in California include Arcadia, Bonita, Glendora, Torrance, and Reseda.

When did Vons become a supermarket?

This milestone marked the advent of the first true supermarkets as we know them today. The most explosive growth occurred during the 1970's when Vons branched out to 159 stores with 16,000 employees, making it firmly the #1 grocery retailer in Southern California.
